Don't Waste Your Vote: Vote Edwards

Since 1988 the primaries are proportional representation. And yet, people rely on habits of thought developed during general elections, where the only vote that can make a difference is a choice between the two leading candidates.

Supporting and voting for either of the two leading candidates in this race, however, simply does not have the same leverage as supporting and voting for the third place candidate. Because supporting and voting for either of the two leading candidate is a vote in support of the Mass Media conventional wisdom.

While supporting and voting for the third place is an act of Independence from the Mass Media.

And given that we are all seriously screwed unless we shake up the Mass Media conventional wisdom, that means that a vote for either of the top two candidates is a wasted vote ... a vote to permit the coming climate crisis to be as bad as corporate short-sightedness and greed can make it.

... don't throw away your vote on packaged candidates sold off to the highest bidder, to attract "their share" of coverage based on fundraising totals.

Send it where it can make a positive difference for the country.

I am just voting for the person and ideas I believe in, if Edwards gets delegates our voice will be heard.

Re: Don't Waste Your Vote: Vote Edwards (2.00 / 3)

I cast my first vote in the Presidential election of 1976. I voted for Jimmy Carter. In 1980 and 1984, I voted against Ronald Reagan. In 1988 and 1992, I voted against George Bush. In 1996, I voted against Bob Dole. In 2000 and 2004, I voted against little george. I desparately want to vote FOR someone. So, in 2008 I will cast my vote FOR John Edwards in the primary. Should he not be the candidate, I sadly, will vote against whoever the Republican candidate is, and pray our democracy lasts log enough that one day I, or maybe my children will be able to vote FOR a candidate for President of the United States.
